Introducing Capsule: Secure Document Sharing for Everyone

Capsule exists because of a gap that most people work around daily. Email gives you no control after sending. Shared drives give you control but demand that recipients have accounts. Almost everyone ends up choosing convenience and hoping.

What Capsule does

You upload a document, decide the rules, and share a link. The recipient clicks it and reads the document — no account, no app, no password reset.

• Set an expiry date, or a maximum number of opens, or both.
• Require a password, or require the recipient to verify their email address.
• Revoke access instantly, even after the document has been opened.
• See who opened it and when, in an audit trail you can produce later.
• Optionally encrypt the contents in your browser, so we only ever hold ciphertext.

What we are deliberately not claiming

End-to-end encryption is an option you turn on per share, not a blanket property of the product. With it enabled, we cannot read your document — and equally cannot preview it, search it, or help you recover it. With it disabled, our servers can read your content, which is what makes those features work.

We would rather be precise about that than imply a guarantee the code does not provide.

Capsule is free to start, and recipients never need an account. If you have been attaching confidential files to emails because the alternative was too much friction, that is exactly the trade we built this to remove.
